Jammu, June 17: Jammu Basmati is known for its aroma and grain quality worldwide and in order to give a further boost to the export quality basmati in Jammu Province, SKUAST-J and Basmati Export Development Foundation (APEDA, Govt. of India) is going to organize workshop on basmati with special emphasis on its quality improvement and export under its calendar activities. "This joint venture has proved trend setting with almost doubling of Basmati Productivity in Jammu Province and a Workshop on "Basmati Export and Development" is being held at SKUAST-J, Main Campus Chatha on June 27, spokesperson said. He said that around 200 Basmati growers from Districts Jammu, Kathua and Samba are expected to participate in this interactive programme wherein stake holders will discuss and address various issues related to the quality production of basmati. The workshop will have scientist-farmer interactions on technical issues like aroma enhancement, sustainable plant protection, agronomic management, fertilizer application, seed production and marketing.
