Jammu, June 17: Arakshan Virodhi Manch Jammu hailed the statement of Vice-Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) in which he stated that reservation inculcates lethargic attitude among the students, which leads to incompetence. According to press release, a meeting of the AVMJ was held wherein its President Ram Pal Seth said reservation is against the fundamental right of equality as it creates separation between caste and caste and promotes ill-will Reservation has been doing a big loss to Country as it destroys the whole world culture. "Reservation is not a fundamental right as claimed by politicians and pro-reservations on the others hand the right to equality under Article 16 (1) is the fundamental right of every citizens, but clauses (4) and (4A) of Article 16 do not confer a fundamental right on the classes for whom reservation is provided. These clauses are discretionary the SC's/ST's/ OBC's cannot claim reservation as a fundamental right", Seth said. Speaking on the occasion, Yash Paul General Secretary of AVMJ pointed out that reservation was a temporary arrangement for ten years and now after 66 years of Independence.
