| People protest, block National Highway at Udhampur | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Jun 17: The irate residents of Panchayati lower Rehmbal and its adjoining areas held a demonstration at Jib Morh and also blocked the National Highway road in protest against the Power failure in Garhi Rehmbal.
Protestors blamed the Power Development Department (PDD) has compounded their problems in the heat wave by snapping power for the last three days. A large number of people including men and children squatted across the road and did not let any vehicle to pass.
SHO Rehmbal rushed to the venue to pacify the agitating people but protestors refused to budge till their demands are settled. However it was after the assurance from SHO, the people lifted the protest and then the usual traffic is resumed.
XEn Power Development Department (PDD) when contacted, briefly said, "The main line has developed a major fault effecting power supply. He said the rectification of technical snag is time consuming and we are arranging the power supply for atleast 12 hrs a day till it is rectified completely. |
