With an aim to aware masses, RTI on wheels arrives in Kishtwar

Kishtwar, June 17: Three members of Mahiti Adhikar Gujarat -Pahel which means Right to Information (RTI) activist from Gujrat under the chairmanship of Harnesh Pandaya and Sadna Pandya and Pankti Jog today reaches at Kishtwar and held a public awareness campaign about the act at the venue Ashiyana Boys Orphanage Center Kishtwar. During the course of the awareness camp, various speakers highlighted the various problems faced by the people and intimate the visiting team about the growing menace of corruption in centrally sponsored scheme including MGNREGA, IAY, BRGF, PMGSY, NRHM, Mid Day Meal, Distribution of free books in schools and various other schemes. Local RTI activists and volunteers urged the visiting team to convey the newly elected union government about these menace with the request to make certain amendment in the existing laws so that it could be made public friendly. Speakers also complaint about growing corruption by way of withdrawing of RTI application and demanded proper watch on the applicants applying for seeking information under this act. They also demanded proper inquiry into the funds given by the union governments to the state government for various centrally sponsored schemes.
While addressing the gathering, Pankti Jog and Haranesh Panday elaborated description of the law and also aware the people through videos and also provide the written material to the participants.While talking to media persons, Executive member of the visiting team Pankti Jog said that the aim and objective of this movement is to aware the people about the RTI Act. She said that the team in next two years will visit others part of the country. She said that the Jammu and Kashmir is the crown of the country and added that the team is delighted to start its movement from the state. Giving details of tour of RTI on wheels, Ms Jog said that in next one week, the team will be visiting Anantnag, Srinagar, Rajouri, Poonch and other parts of the state to create awareness among people about the RTI Act. She hoped that with the help of the people, they will achieve success in bringing good change in the act in near future.
