| Cong rejects police investigation in Pathania assault case, intensifies stir | | | Early Times Report
MAJALTA, Aug 5 : While calling police investigations and claims of having arrested all accused in Pathania assault case, Youth Congress while staging a protest termed the police investigations as worth discarding to the dustbin and a piece of jugglery, misrepresentation and hallucination. The protestors expressed surprise and serious concern that how Police is justified in registering case of a 'simple hurt' under section 323 of RPC in a case where an advocate was chased, intercepted, hit with lethal weapons on vital parts causing grievous injuries including major nasal bone-fracture in pursuance to a persistent enmity. Had some passer-bys and local people not intervened outcome of brutal assault would have been much graver. The conduct and demeanor of local Police is under question for, firstly, registering trivial and bailable offences just for sake of an eye-wash, and secondly, bailing out the criminals from the Police Station itself. After submitting a memorandum to the local administration seeking registration of and 'attempt to murder' case against the assailants and 'criminal conspiracy against MLA Ramnagar Harsh Dev Singh at whose instance the attack was carried out, the protesting people further said that they shall not budge back unless both of their demands very met with properly. And that justice should not be done rather it should appeared to have been done. A tehsil wide procession by 1000-odd Congress workers took off from Majalta and passing through Manwal, Battal, Baryalta, Bharnara, Paldai, Dehma, Khoon, and Balpur where effigies of MLA Ramnagar and J K Police were torched. Slogans rented, 'JKNPP Murdabad' and 'MLA Harsh Dev' Singh Murdabad and charged the atmosphere. Youth Congress cadres again blocked national highway at Balpur for about two hours while pressing for their demands and affording an ultimatum to Police for immediate follow-up action. The public ire and resentment was such that it was refusing to die down. |
