SRINAGAR, Aug 5: With an intention to gain votes ahead of Assembly elections, political appointments through backdoor are on sale these days for Rs 5 to 8 lakhs. Sources said that people are asked to get recommendation letters from either Ministers or officials of the rank of Director. Then initially posts without any advertisement of need base kind are created for them in Government departments and later within days they get regularized after paying huge sum of money ranging from Rs 5 to 8 lakhs.
A spree of illegal recruitments according to sources in Department of Urban and Local Bodies is going on these days in various Municipal Committees of Kashmir in which executive officers are motivated by paying money as bribe to create posts. While as according to sources in Power Development Department in which minimum one thousand youth in every District were recruited illegally during last one year have been promised regularization notwithstanding vigilance cases.
Similarly in other departments like Agriculture and Tourism departments besides a spree of backdoor appointments is on peak these days, people who were recruited earlier through illegal means also have been asked to pay new quota of money to enroll themselves for the process of daily wage grade and whosoever fails to fill the pocket of recruiters is shown exit door from the circle with no proof in hand to claim his money paid earlier.
Sources revealed youth who have paid bribe ranging between Rs 5 to 8 lakhs are trained separately for physical tests and assured of complete help in written and interviews later, while as educated youth who apply for such posts through formal means only waste time and money, besides thousands of youth who are near the mark of over age and cannot afford to pay bribe for jobs feel frustrated.
Likewise in cases of recently advertised jobs of Anganwadi workers in some Districts, separate application forms are filled for blue eyed people and aspirants willing to get job through illegal means are supposed to pay minimum two lakh rupees and around 50,000 to get Anganwadi centre.
Sources said that dozens of political workers carrying recommendation letters of Ministers to get their dear ones recruited in different departments can be seen roaming around Secretariat complex these days as the process of backdoor appointments is at its peak these days and if any official tries to exposes the illegal recruitment drive he/she is being harassed through indirect means and left paralysed.
Pertinently as the news of backdoor appointments in different Government departments has gone viral in Kashmir these days, senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Member of Parliament, Tariq Hameed Karra today asked State Government to come clean on the reports of backdoor appointments made in various departments under the political influence and said that "having lost ground and public support, National Conference is now resorting to its traditional practice of backdoor appointments and corrupt practices by putting even the daily-wage and casual labour jobs on sale.'
