Jammu, Aug 5 : A famous scholar of Sanskrit, who spent his whole life for the development of the Sanskrit language, Dr Moti Ram Shastri passed away at his residence, in Jammu at the age of 94. In his literary career, Dr Shastri taught Sanskrit to more than 3000 students, working in astrology and other related fields. Alumni of Sanskrit Paths-hala Raghunath Mandir and Shri Ranvir Kendriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, Dr Shastri started learning Sanskrit from early childhood and attended a number of National and International Seminars on the language. Awarded with 'Braham Gourav Award', he also wrote a number of books on Hindu religion including 'Vaishnav Puran Karm Kaand', which was widely appreciated by the scholars. Terming his demise as a great loss to society in general and Pandit Samaj in particular, MLA Ashok Khajuria expressed his heartfelt condolences on his death. He prayed to the Almighty for granting peace to the departed soul and courage to the family members to bear this irreparable loss. |
