Kishtwar, Aug 5 : In a major success on terrorism front, Kishtwar police and 17 RR today busted a Lashker terror hideout in Chicha area of newly created Nagsini Tehsil some 35 kms from Kishtwar town. Among the recoveries is US made jacket that has been possibly traveled from Afghanistan to Pakistan from where militants passed it to Jammu and Kashmir. While divulging details, Additional SP Kishtwar informed the "Early times" that a Joint team of Police and 17 RR carried out a search operation in Chicha forests of Kishtwar District,busted a hideout used by terrorists in the past and recovered huge cache of Arms/Ammunition and explos ves. He said that recovery of arms and ammunition is a major milestone achieved by District Police and RR unit and is a serious set back to anti-national elements and will certainly prove detrimental to revival of militancy in the area. As per the press statement issued by Kishtwar police, the recoveries include one AK -47 Rifle, one Pistol, four Hand Grenades, seven UBGL Grenades, one RPG Rocket, one Magzine of AK -47, 48 Rounnds of AK -47 Rifle, one wireless set, one Binocular, 15 rounds of .303 Rifle, one US made Jacket and four Letter Pad LET. In this regard, a case U/S 7/25/27 I. Arms Act and 4/5 Explosive Substance Act has been registered at P/S Kishtwar and investigation has been set into motion. It is pertinent to mention here that Chhechha Forest area of Kishtwar District has remained highly infested with militancy in the past. A major tragedy has been averted by District Police and 17 RR by busting such a huge hideout in the District. The area is presently dominated by Jahingir Saroori, longest surviving Hizb chief operational commander of Jammu and Kashmir active in Kishtwar and Anantnag belt of the militancy infested state. |
