| Woman among five booked in assault case in Thanamandi | | Man assaulted, later shot at over 'land feud' | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 5: Barely two days after a father allegedly slit throat of his minor daughter to get his brother to be implicated in a criminal case over a 'property dispute in Mendher of Poonch district,' a youth today received critical injuries besides bullet injuries after he was assaulted and shot at by a group of five persons over a land dispute in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district. Meanwhile police have booked five persons including a woman in this regard. According to police sources, one Mohammad Iqbal (25) son of Sobha of Danna Hasplote village falling under the jurisdiction of Thanamandi Police Station got critical injuries besides two bullet shots. Sources said the injured was rushed to local hospital by his relatives from where he was referred to District Hospital Rajouri where his condition was stated to be unstable when last reports came in. Quoting the injured, Police sources said that in his statement, victim as well as his family members stated that Mohammad Iqbal was on his way to Katte Dhok from his village when some persons assaulted him and also fired upon him. Meanwhile hearing his hue and cry of the victim some passersby rushed to the spot following which the assailants fled from the spot leaving the victim in pool of blood. As per police sources one ear of the victim wore deep cut besides two bullet shots. Meanwhile, police have registered a case under FIR 116/2014 under sections 307, 147, 148, 149, 323 and 341 of RPC against the accused some of whom have been identified as Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Sharif and Mohammad Kabir all sons of Abdul, Mohammad Farooq son of Makhna and Saleema Akhter wife of Abdul Rashid, all resident of Mangota village of Thanamandi. |
