JAMMU, Aug 5: The representative of J&K Motor Transport Companies Association (JKMTCA) today alleged that state is threatened by an unholy nexus between some corrupt transport mafia and JAKFED employees. They alleged that the nexus is violating the provision of Motor Vehicle Act by allowing two-time higher the permissible load of nine ton prevalent throughout the country. To control overloading proper functioning of weigh-bridge is necessary but it is pity that unscrupulous people ignore it and carry heavy overload sometimes, they added. To end the menace of overloading, protesters asked the government to install computerized weigh bridges. Asking to check where the overloaded material was gone, they demanded state government to hold enquiry against the unscrupulous people and take action. They further said that later, a truck bearing registration number JK02DC-7817, owned by one Randhir Mehta, used to transport material illegally was seized by police party of Police Post Narwal. President of the Association, Surinder Singh Kala, Secretary, Kulwant Singh Secretary, members, Kulwant Singh, Amar Singh Wazir, Kultar Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Manjeet Singh, Madan Singh and Gajan Singh were present in the protest. |
