Bijay Charak JAMMU, Sept 2: In breach of recommendations of Indian Primary Health Standard (IPHS), health services in hilly district Doda, half of sanctioned post of Assistant Surgeons are laying vacant. Moreover, around 60 per cent posts of specialist doctors are also vacant. According to official sources 167 health institutions including one district, two sub district and one emergency are crying of huge staff dearth. Except above said institution, 17 Primary Health Centre, 23 Allopathic Dispensary, 34 Medical Aid Centers, 86 Sub Health Centers and three Mobile Medical Aid Centers are exposing government claims of providing best health care facilities. According to guideline of IPHS Doda district is still far away in case of sanctioned strength Medical staff. "Out of sanctioned strength till date only 50 percent staff is catering the whole district, out of 114 posts of Assistant Surgeons only 58 doctors are available", sources said, adding that the specialist doctor's sanctioned strength was 38, but presently only 15 specialists are there. According to the IPHS norms 100 bedded district hospital has two posts of Specialist, including Medicine, Surgery, Obstetric and Gynae, Paediatrics, Anaesthesia and one post of specialist including Opthalmology, Orthopaedics, Radiology, Pathology, ENT, Dental, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Microbiology, Forensic Specialist, AYUSH Specialist and 11 posts of Medical Officer. Astoundingly state government has sanctioned 38 posts of Specialists for whole district including a district hospital, two sub district hospitals and one emergency hospital, said an official wishing not to be named. Despite repeated call to Director Health Services Jammu, Dr BS Pathina didn't pick the call. |
