| Of state BJP and its over ambitious new entrants! | | | Kunal Shrivatsa JAMMU, Sept 17: Ever since the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) scored a landslide victory in Lok Sabha polls and managed to clinch three parliamentary seats from J&K, several 'wannabe' politicians joined the state unit of the BJP with a hope of making a mark in politics. However, the new entrants in their over enthusiasm sometimes forget that they have to abide party discipline viz-a-viz follow certain set procedures and guidelines. But, there are few high profile individuals, who till less than a month back were unknown faces and nowhere in the picture, think otherwise since they are acting as if they have spent a lifetime in the saffron brigade. One such fresh face making a mockery of BJP's much hyped discipline is Aditi Sharma, who joined the BJP alongwith several other 'galaxy of eminent and prominent public figures' of Jammu in a function held at Eden Gardens on August 23 last. Within a span of less than a month, Aditi Sharma in complete disregard of the state BJP leadership's authority is trying to hog the limelight for one reason or the other. While state unit of the BJP has a dedicated Media Cell to highlight its activities and for the purpose it issues regular press releases for various programmes besides also throwing invitations for different events held from time to time, but it seems the 'newcomer' Aditi Sharma doesn't believe in the 'authenticity' of party's Media Cell as today she on her own released a press note to media wherein she claimed that a medical camp was organized by BJP for flood affected people at Beli Charana, Jammu. However, the press release issued by Aditi Sharma doesn't have names of any prominent BJP leader or for that matter any party activist which can validate the event as a BJP show, rather it looks like she is trying to score self goals to promote herself. "I fail to understand who has authorized her (Aditi) to hold programmes individually and then inform the media through her own channels when a well established media cell exits within the state BJP…. It was indeed an action from a person who wants to be in the thick of things in a shortest possible time," a BJP leader, wishing anonymity, said. If sources within BJP are to be believed, it is not only the question of issuing a press release; Aditi Sharma is also a self proclaimed party candidate from Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency since she claimed it on social media. "Aditi Sharma's Facebook postings declare her as a BJP candidate from Gandhi Nagar Assembly segment…The BJP discipline, which is a known fact since its inception in 1980, is getting a severe beating by such assertions on social media…Before staking a claim for any post or any other benefit from the party one should dedicate himself or herself to strengthen the organization," sources said. "The sudden urge to hog limelight and be in the driver's seat will only weaken BJP and discourage those who have devoted years together to build up party's base in J&K… Freshers should not think that their personality is over and above the party's image," they added. |
