Jammu, Oct 19: In yet another ceasefire violation, the Pak Rangers today resorted to small arms firing on forward Border Outposts (BoPs) along the International Border (IB) here today.
"The Rangers resorted to small arms firing at BoPs along IB in Pargwal sub-sector of Jammu district at about 10.30 am," official sources said.
"Their aim was to prevent farmers from harvesting their crops," sources said. As per reports, the areas which came under firing from across the border included Jaman Bela, Rajpurs, Maljudh, Chak Phagwari, Deora and Himarpur Kona BoPs in Pargwal and Jourian areas of Akhnoor.
BSF troops retaliated resulting in exchange of fire. There was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing, sources said.
There has been five cases of ceasefire violation along the international border and Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Poonch districts in the past three days.
Pakistani troops violated ceasefire twice and resorted to small arms and automatic weapons firing on Indian posts along the LoC in Hamirpur sector of Poonch district on Friday.
On October 17 and 18, the Rangers resorted to minor firing on BoPs in Makwal and Allah mahi Da Kothay (AMK) areas in Jammu district.
Earlier, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire in Hamirpur sector twice on Thursday night, drawing retaliation from Indian troops.
Before these ceasefire violations, Pakistan had violated the ceasefire by resorting to firing and mortar shelling along the LoC in Saujian-Kirni-Shahpur belts of Poonch on October 15 in which seven-year-old Riyaz of Kuiyian Gotirian village was injured.
The IB and LoC in Jammu region have witnessed heavy firing and mortar shelling by Pakistani troops since October 1 which have left nine persons dead and more than 95, including 13 security men, injured.
Around 30,000 people have fled their border homes, leaving 130 hamlets deserted along the IB.
