2 Agri deptt employees among 3 held for selling wheat in black | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Oct 19: Police claimed to have arrested three persons including officials of Agriculture department for selling wheat and grass seeds in black market. The accused have been identified storekeeper Mohammad Nazir of Budhall, field assistant Mohammad Afzal and shopkeeper Mohammad Isaaq of Gadyog. Police have registered a case against the accused under sections 409 of RPC and 3/7 of ECA (Essential Commodity Act ) in FIR No 76/14 and have started further investigation on the direction of district SP. Police sources said that the inhabitants of Kotranaka were complaining about the artificial scarcity of wheat and grass seeds and were taking round of the Agriculture department store to get the seeds but were denied by the accused officials. On Saturday these officials left for Khawas along with 115 bags of grass seeds carrying 20 kgms each and 16 bags of wheat carrying 40 kgms each. As some police sources were following their activities, these officials returned at about 11.30 pm without distributing seeds and started storing them in a shop owned by Mohammad Issaq. On the information of sources police party headed by SHO raided the shop and arrested all the three accused red handed and also seized the consignment of the seeds. |
