Mission 44 Plus: BJP finds it difficult to even get potential candidates for 46 Assembly seats of Kashmir | High command not happy with attitude of local leaders | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 20: Notwithstanding tall claims of the BJP to achieve 44 Plus target in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, the Saffron party finds it difficult to even get potential candidates on 46 assembly seats of Kashmir Valley. All senior leaders of BJP including some national leaders are frequently visiting Kashmir Valley to rope in some influential candidates but so far the party has failed to convince even a single winnable candidate to join the party. Credible sources said that a national general secretary of BJP, JP Nadda had a meeting with Sajjad Lone but nothing concrete emerge from the meeting because leadership of Kashmir Valley has no faith on the state BJP leadership which has so far failed to convince any powerful leaders of the Valley. Some potential leaders of Kashmir Valley, who were earlier in touch with BJP leadership, have so far shown cold shoulder response. Credible sources said that BJP high command has exerted pressure on the state unit to open channels with some separatist leaders but inefficient state leadership has miserable failed so far. The state president Jugal Kishore Sharma has so far failed to even give any direction to the party at this crucial time when there is a strong wave in favour of the party. Sharma, who has won the Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat with a huge margin, is more concerned about managing ticket for his younger brother Nand Kishore from Nagrota assembly segment rather than projecting over all interests of the party in the State. Same is the attitude of other incumbent leaders of the state unit who are more concerned about managing their own assembly seats instead of convincing some other influential leaders to join the party ahead of assembly elections. Credible sources in the BJP said that all the senior leaders of the party have staked their claims on assembly seats so no leader is left to managing assembly elections. "The high command is not happy over the attitude of local BJP leaders. A central leader has asked local BJP leaders to utilize their energy on strengthening the party instead of projecting their own interests", sources said. |
