Inquiry ends abruptly, complainant forced to withdraw complaint | Female staffer sexually harassed in JU | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 22: Jammu University is yet to respond to the explanation sought by Governor N.N. Vohra into the alleged indecent conduct and sexual advances of a University official, presently posted in the examination wing, with a female staffer. If the sources are to be believed, a close aide of ex-Vice-Chancellor ensured that the matter is brushed aside by using the services of a University employee union leader. They added that the concerned female staffer had complained to Governor N.N. Vohra, alleging that a University official on his posting in the examination wing of Jammu University, would make her sit till late in the afternoon without assigning any specific reasons. According to the letter, the female official has alleged that when she once objected and said that she cannot sit in the office beyond the official timings, the accused official threatened her of dire consequences. She has alleged that the official used to pass obscene remarks and make sexual advances whenever she would visit him inside his office. She has further alleged that the behaviour of the said official was abusive and unbecoming of a public servant. If the insiders are to be believed, Governor N.N. Vohra's office forwarded the letter to VC's office, directing them to probe and take action against the accused official. They added that the employee was threatened to withdraw the complaint. They further said that a union leader, who is known for being close to VC's aides seemingly acted as middleman and forced the female employee to withdraw the complaint against the official. On being forced, sources said that the female employee did give in writing that the letter was fake and someone else had sent it Governor's office and she knew nothing about it. They said that the employee has been talking to almost every other person about the indecent behaviour of the official and complaining that she was forced to withdraw the complaint. They further said that even VC's office did nothing to penalise the official, courtesy; a close aide of ex-VC and even present VC. |
