JAMMU, Jan 15: Governor, NN Vohra, Chancellor of the Jammu University, today inaugurated "UDGOSH", a 5 days Inter University North Zone Youth Festival at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium. According to press release, nearly 1000 students from 25 universities of 7 North Indian States are participating in this Youth festival. The participants would compete in 25 events in the field of music, fine arts, dance, drama and literary activities. The Governor complimented the Vice-Chancellor Jammu University and his concerned colleagues for organising this significant event. Emphasizing the importance of such Festivals which are immensely helpful in strengthening the bonds of unity and communal harmony, the Governor said that they provide an opportunity to the youth hailing from different cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds to meet, interact, understand and appreciate the wonderful diversities which exist in our country. The Governor observed that institutions of higher learning are expected to facilitate co-curricular activities besides the academic and sports activities for promoting all round and balanced personality development of youth. On the occasion the Governor released "UDGOSH", a souvenir in commemoration of this Youth Festival. Earlier, Prof. R.D. Sharma, Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Jammu University gave a brief report on the achievements of the University and the organization of the Festival. |
