Jammu, Jan 15: Students of Government Degree College Udhampur organized a seminar on topic "Traffic Management and Critics to functioning of Traffic Police" by Jigyasa, a lifelong Learning Club in collaboration with National Highway Traffic Police in the College Conference Hall. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College Prof. SS Bhalwal presided over the proceedings whereas Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kotwal, National Highway Traffic Police was the special guest. In his address Prof. Bhalwal appreciated the overwhelming response of the students to be a part of this seminar “We all need to know and ensure safety standards to avoid road accidents. It is important to sensitize the youth to be an active partner in the efforts of the traffic department,” he added. Special Invitee SSP Sanjay Kotwal spoke on various issues and challenges of Traffic Management in detail in relation to various stakeholders which include public, private and commercial transporters. He urged the students to give at least ten minutes to their life everyday for a successful and safe life. Earlier the programme began with lighting the ceremonial lamp followed by welcome address by Ram Singh, Dy. SP Traffic Udhampur Reasi. A panel of judges comprising Dr Udhey Bhanu, Prof R K Atri and Prof Jawaid Sarver decalred Neeraj Manhas of BA-II, Neha Jamwal of B.Sc.-II, Akhina Jamwal of B.Sc.-II, Bahr-Ud-Din of BA-III and Fayaz Ahmed Sheik of BA-III as first, second, third and consolation positions respectively. Dr Udhey Bhanu presented the formal vote of thanks while Prof Sudhir Singh conducted proceedings of function. Among prominent present on the occasion included Prof Rakesh Gupta, Prof Sumeksha Thakur and others. |
