Jammu, Jan 15: Continuing its protest against acting vice chancellor Jammu University, the Jammu University Research Scholars Executive Association (JURSEA) today staged a protest and urged the Governor, N N Vohra, who is the Chancellor of the varsity for immediate intervention to redress the issues of the Students and Scholars of Jammu University. Addressing the gathering here today, Sukhdev Singh condemned the University authorities for their failure to provide internet facilities to the Students, Scholars. He alleged that the Wi-Fi network in the hostels and entire campus has been stopped for last two months and despite several pleas to the authorities no step has been taken so far. "The Vice Chancellor Jammu University on his recent visit to the hostels has assured that proper facilities would be provided to the Students and Scholars, but the same turned only lip service," he added. JURSEA leaders also expressed grave concerns over increasing incidents of molestation and harassment cases on the women in Jammu University. They also criticized Acting Vice Chancellor Professor RD Sharma for reinstated Dr Darshana Sharma as Programme Coordinator at DDE. Sunny Babber General-Secretary JURSEA alleged that Central Library, health centre, hostels area lacking facilities to the students, scholars and employees of varsity despite tall claims from the authorities. They also demanded from Chancellor of Jammu University that all PhD scholars should be given Rs 20,000/- per month and each MPhil scholars be given 15,000 per month as scholarship. Manzoor Naik Joint Secretary JURSEA, Gopal Singh, J V Singh, Ajaz Shah, Nitin, Vikram Madhyal, Qayoom Malik, Altaf Ahmed, Varinder Singh, Jog Raj, and others participated in this protest demonstration. |
