| Eviction from EP property | | PDD, Custodian deptt fight it out in Rajouri | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Jan 15 : After a failed attempt of an eviction of Evacuee Property by the officials of Custodian Department; staff and officials of sub office of the Power Development Department held a protest demonstration and warned the department not to repeat the attempt in future.
The forceful eviction of sub-division of PDD housed in old Rajouri city, by the officials of CEP, Jammu took an ugly turn on January 11 when first class Magistrate and CEP officials had to face resentment of the inhabitants of old Rajouri city and even were manhandled by angry locals. In the melee, Deputy Custodian (HQ) was manhandled while first class Magistrate Khursheed Ahmed Tantry took shelter in the nearby safe place.
DC(HQ) along with Irshad Hussain XEN, PDD were not allowed by the people to leave the spot to talk to senior district officials without restoration of power supply and opening of sealed rooms. On Wednesday the officials and employees of the sub office of PDD held a mass protest against the CEP officials and warned that another attempt to seal the sub-office by the CEP will force them to snap the power for the entire Jammu province and the employees will come on the roads and will held large scale protest demonstrations against the CEP officials.
"On Monday CEP officials in the presence of 1st class Magistrate forcefully sealed the rooms occupied by the staff after throwing their articles outside. They also damaged the AEE's office and records which has resulted in the heavy loss" said Sadiq Chib president PDD employees union. These employees also condemned the role of the Magistrate and warned the CEP officials not to repeat any such attempt otherwise they will face the consequences. Sadiq and other employees said that for the last more than 60 years the so called evacuee property is under the custody of PDD department and a power house, which was feeding the entire area, was installed at this place. How the Custodian Evacuee Properly claim for this property? asked the employees. They smell some foul play behind this act of CEP in nexus with some politicians and land mafia to grab the prime location situated in the heart of the city.
Custodian Evacuee Property, Jammu vide his office letter No867-72/AP dt 8/1/15 had informed the District Magistrate, Rajouri (DDC) to provide police security and 1st class Magistrate as the department has to take the possession of Evacuee Property land along with the structure concerned under Khasra No (363) old 1034 (new) measuring 3 kanals and 10 marlas situated at old Rajouri city (PDD Sub Office) |
