2-day workshop on disaster management concludes | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Jan 15: A two-day workshop on disaster risk management organized by the NGO "Doctors for You" in collaboration with National Rural Health Mission concluded today at Reasi. According to press release, the workshop was conducted for the health workers including ASHA facilitators, ASHA Coordinators, pharmacists, and health supervisors of Districts Reasi. Dr Anurag Mishra from NGO, during the workshop told the workers for effective disaster risk management as they are the first responders in disasters and emergencies. He further said that they should prepare themselves and their communities for an effective response to disasters. The public health system is likely to be disputed by disasters. In fact the rate of mortality and morbidity increases in the aftermath of disaster. To maintain proper and timely service delivery during disasters a planned approach and preparedness is required added Dr Mishra. Dr Mishra said that the workshop was also aimed to formulate a network of public health professional and volunteers to serve during emergencies. The participants of this workshop belonged to a diverse field of work including doctors, social workers, pharmacists and ASHA workers. CMO, Dr Parminder Singh said that aim of such workshop is to prepare the community for health emergencies and equip the workers with the best of the expertise and knowledge. To make this workshop more fruitful a panel discussion and comprehensive practical orientation to deal with the emergency situation pertaining to public health was also conducted. |
