Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan 15: In view of the poor performance of BJP candidates in Assembly elections in Kashmir Valley BJP is likely to revamp its Kashmir unit by disbanding its entire Kashmir unit. This has been decided by Party High Command in Union Capital recently. According to sources Party High Command has asked the State Unit to convey the same to all office bearers of Valley and take immediate steps to revamp the Kashmir unit as Party has not done well in the Assembly poll in Valley and the poor performance was totally disturbing for Party.
The High Command has also asked the Party to also ascertain the causes of poor performance in both Kashmir Valley in Ladakh region as in both these regions the Party has done below the expectations. The BJP leaders in the strong message to Valley office bearers has conveyed the decision of High Command to office bearers of Kashmir and asked them to be ready for reshuffle. The axe may fall on some senior office bearers of the Party. Sources said that BJP may give place to young leadership in its new team who can have direct contact with youth and take the policies and programmes of Modi Government to every nook and corner of Valley and Ladakh region. Sources said BJP is contemplating the move to give a strong message to the State leadership which failed to deliver during recent Assembly poll despite a strong Modi wave in the country.
The BJP High Command has also not taken well the defeat of its candidates in Udhampur, Bishnah, Nagrota and Rajouri Assembly segments of Kashmir Valley and accepted that the selection of candidates was made in hurry and without taking ground realities into consideration. Sources said the BJP has accepted that Rajouri seat was lost due to defection and revolt by one of the senior Party leader while in Udhampur and Nagrota the choice of candidates was not good. However in Bishnah there was a public resentment against the two time MLA, sources added.
Sources said BJP High Command has asked the State Unit to redouble their efforts in strengthening the Party especially in Kashmir Valley and Ladakh region and strengthen its base there too.
Sources said though BJP has made it clear that it will not compromise on its principles and ideology in forming an alliance Government with PDP or NC and given a clear message when PDP will not come down from its conditions why BJP will compromise on its ideology. The BJP will join with any Party which will accept candidate to be next Chief Minister, sources added. Sources said BJP has kept its options open for both NC and PDP and whichever Party accepts its conditions it will ally with that.
