BARAMULLA, Jan 15: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two extortionists posing as militants in North Kashmir's Kreeri area of Baramulla district, civil society hailed the work of J&K Police, as the extortionists threatened to kill three influential personalities of Kreeri, including MLA, Sarpanch, and Imami Jamia. According to senior police official that, "on a tip of, Jammu and Kashmir police arrested two extortionists. On the intervening night of Jan 12 and 13 two local extortionists barged into the house of Sonaullha Wani S/O Mohammad Abdullha Wani R/O Kreeri and looted Rs 60'000 and an ATM card of J&K Bank at gun point, official said. Station House Officer (SHO) Kreeri Ghulam Nabi Dar told Early Times that, "Police station Kreeri was informed by some locals of upper mohalla Kreeri that two persons barged in a house of Sonaullha Wani and extorted Rs 60,000 on gun point. Police swung in action and within a span of just 24 hours, 02 extortionists were arrested and later who were identified as Viqar Ahmad Bhat S/O Late Bashir Ahmad Bhat and Nisar Ahmad Sofi S/O Sonaullha Sofi R/O Kreeri and recovered an artificial gun and a toy pistol that almost resembles with the actual pistol from their possession, official said. Police has registered a case vide First Information Report (FIR) no 04/2015 US 392, 7/25 and have started an investigations into the matter. "One of the culprit Viqar Ahmad Bhat had also looted Rs 24,000 from a person namely Rashid Ahmad Malik of Karhama Tangmarag in past on July 13, 2014 and an FIR 47/2014, US 392 RPC and case was registered in police station, official maintained. However a reliable source told early times that the accused later confessed their involvement in the crime. Meanwhile a senior citizen of Kreeri Syed Siraj-ud Din told early times that the culprits have threatened to kill PDP MLA, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Sarpanch Abdul Aziz Mir, and Imami of Jamia Masjid Kreeri Syed Shareeful Haq Bukhari, as these extortionists were the militants, he said. According to him, we the senior Citizens, Civil society and other respected personalities of Kreeri have appreciated the SHO Kreeri for his timely action in the case. |
