Unused WVM in dilapidated condition, Meteorology Deptt mum Crores squandered 1/21/2015 11:06:00 PM Arun Trisal Early Times Report Kathua, Jan 21: Crores of Rupees have been squandered due to negligence of the department as Weighing Verified Machine, WVM, granted by Union Government to J&K Meteorology Department 4 years ago, is in dilapidated condition but lot of variation have been noticed in several Weighing Bridges installed in Lakhanpur and SICOP areas of Distt. Kathua. Astonishingly department never utilized service of the WVM since inauguration that need immediate renovation now. Himant Singh, Jt Controller Meteorology Deptt Kathua, informed. The WVM is meant for verifying several Weighing Bridges and loading vehicles but due to lack of proper funding the machine got negligence and could not be used to verify the accuracy of weighing bridges. He said Union government gifted the vehicle to J&K Meteorology department that seeks proper funding for installation but due to lack of fund , department could not get service of the WVM. It is mandatory to mention here that drivers always complain of variation shown by Weighing Bridges installed in Lakhanpur Toll Plaza that brings financial lost for both J&K government and owners. Himant Singh said that Union government gifted another such type of Vehicle with proper funding released by J&K former govt. which should be utilized for unused vehicle too.
