State Govt employees blame Centre for aggravating financial crisis in J&K | | | Early Times Report
jammu, Feb 3: A large number of Government employees including teachers working in degree colleges continue to blame the BJP led NDA Government for not initiating speedy measures for tackling severe financial crisis in Jammu and Kashmir. "It is surprising that the state coffers are cashless and the state Government has no money for meeting plan and non-plan expenses," said a number of employees who have not been able to receive their monthly salary for the last 90 days. These employees have appealed to Governor, N NVohra to take up the issue with the central Government regarding inordinate delay in the release of monthly salary in favour of state Government employees. A senior college teacher said "we are not concerned whether the current financial crisis is the result of mismanagement by the previous NC-Congress coalition Government or owing to delay in the release of plan funds by the centre. "We want the Modi led Government to come to the aid of Jammu and Kashmir by providing immediate financial support so that the state Government was able to release monthly salary of its employees, " he added. Agitated employee said that the state depends on 80 per cent financial support from the central Government and the centre has to meet 80 per cent of the wages of the state employees and as such our fate is linked with the mood of the central Government. He said if the centre released additional funds we may be able to receive our salary and if the centre does not release additional funds it will have adverse effect upon hundreds of employees." Frustrated employees said that all the development activity and projects stand stalled because of lack of funds and scores of contractors whose bills yet have not cleared have stopped executing some development projects. |
