New Delhi, Feb 6: Pranab Mukherjee, President of India, who is Visitor Central Universities on Thursday, underscored the need to further consolidate efforts for setting up of the own campus of the Central University Kashmir (CUK) with multidimensional facilities to boost academic culture and promote linkage with the community and society. The President emphasized this during the two-day Conference of the Vice-Chancellors of the Central Universities held in the President's House, here from February 4-5. The Conference was also attended by Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister for Human Resource Development, Secretary, Additional Secretary and key functionaries of the President's Secretariat. Secretary MHRD, Chairman UGC, Secretary General, AIU, Joint. Secretary, MHRD, Secretary, UGC, leading educationists, leading scientists and leading Industrialists were also present. The Central University of Kashmir was represented by Prof. Mehraj-ud-din Mir, officiating Vice-Chancellor, who presented the achievements and impediments faced by the University during the last one year. The Honorable President emphasized that quarterly targets be fixed and followed up. He emphasized for imparting quality teaching and research and also directed to include Industry and Alumni in the process. Pranab Mukherjee, also maintained that collaborations with the leading Institutions be explored to promote excellence and innovations. "Incubator Centers be established to give boost to innovations and inspired teachers be identified and invited for an interaction with the students and faculty. The teaching-learning process be improved at every level; CBSC be made operational on priority basis and high quality research be promoted," he said. The President for the first time conferred Visitors' award for 'Best University' 'For Best Innovation' and For 'Research' in a gathering of intellectuals and senior officers of MHRD, UGC, AIU, Industry and other organization. He impressed upon the Universities to compete for getting the awards. He also announced that the best Inspiring Teachers" shall be identified and invited as guests of the President. |
