LMD penalizes seven erring traders for violation of Act

Jammu, May 16: Legal Metrology Department (LMD) today conducted a surprise checking in various areas of Jammu district in which they penalized seven erring traders for violation Act, 1997.
According to press release, Inspectors LMD, M Khateeb and Rohit Gupta under the supervision of Dy. Controller Enforcement VS Sambyal had conducted a surprise checking of the trading establishments in the areas of Akhnoor, Janipur, Shakti Nagar, Vinayak Bazar and Bus stand during checking team deteted seven traders violating the provisions of Jammu and Kashmir Weights and Measures Enf. Act,1997 and Rules. The violators were detected indulged in sale of packaged goods without mandatory declarations, use of unverified digital scales in commercial transactions and use of unverified Autorickshaw Faremeters.
Composition of money Rs.8800 realized on spot from erring seven traders by the Dy. Controller Enforcement. They appealed the traders dealing with fruits and vegetables to display rates in their trading premises for the information of traders prominently.
