| Amit Shah's snub makes Sukhnandan to clarify on Tawi lake project | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 17: After a strong snub by the BJP national president Amit Shah to the State party leaders for allegedly succumbing before PDP, the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Choudhary Sukhnandan rushed to media with a clarification that Tawi lake project was feasible and has not been shelved. According to the sources in BJP circles, Sukhnandan was conveyed through BJP State president Jugal Kishore Sharma to immediately call a press conference and issue clarification on the controversy over Tawi lake project following Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed's remark that the project has been shelved. The direction was passed by BJP national president Amit Shah, who took a meeting of top BJP leaders from Jammu Kashmir and expressed his strong displeasure over the controversy on lake project. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, BJP State president Jugal Kishore, MoS in PMO, Dr Jatinder Singh, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shamsher Singh and BJP State organizing secretary Ashok Koul. BJP national general secretary and incharge J&K affairs Ram Madhav as well as Ram Lal were also present in the meeting, sources added. The meeting lasted more than two hours and after taking a feed back on political situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Amit Shah grilled the State BJP leaders for their failure to come upto the expectations of people. He particularly sought to know the reason behind the BJP leaders' silence on Tawi lake project after Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed's statement regarding closure of the same. Sources further said that Amit Shah directed the State BJP leaders to correct the things without wasting time and clarify the issue before Jammu people, who had given the party 25 seats in last Assembly elections. Following snub by the national president, Jugal Kishore rang up Sukhnandan Choudhary and immediately call a press conference for issuing clarification, sources explained. |
