| Rahul attacks Modi -- II | | But RSS ideology is ultra secular | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 30: The stand of the RSS and the BJP on Ram temple and uniform civil code has been no different from that on Article 370. These are merely the issues which they rake up during the election time. The Vajpayee-led NDA government remained at the helm for more than six years, but it did nothing to give effect to the poll planks on the basis of which the BJP got votes and formed government for the first time. The Modi government has been there since May 26, 2014, but this "nationalist" and "pro-Hindutva" dispensation too has not moved forward an inch. Nor is there the possibility of the Modi government taking any step in the direction. The fact is that the RSS and the BJP are not even willing to hold discussion and debate on these issues because they believe that the minorities would get annoyed. Their attitude on Article 370 is the same. They do not want discussion and debate on Article 370. Had they any commitment to any of these components of their so-called core ideology, the BJP would have moved motions on it in the Parliament. The people would have appreciated the BJP and the RSS even if the "secular" parties in the Parliament had not voted for the motion or had they joined hands to get the core ideology of the RSS and the BJP defeated on the floor of the House. And, don't forget what BJP national president Amit Shah said on the core ideology of the RSS and the BJP on May 26, a day after Modi completed one year in office. He said, "the BJP needs 370 MPs" to implement their core ideology. To be more exact, he made it clear that the BJP government at the Centre would not do anything in this regard. All the statements that some RSS and BJP leaders make on Ram temple, uniform civil code and Article 370 are simply meaningless and desperate attempts to tell their core constituency that they have not abandoned their core ideology. And, take the stand of the BJP and the RSS on beef eating or beef export. A minister in the Modi government Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi this week asked the beef eaters to leave India and migrate to Pakistan. MoS in the Ministry of Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju took cudgels with him and asked him to implement his suggestion, saying he couldn't do so to injure the sentiments of beef eater. When two BJP MPs condemned the MoS, he gave a clarification that he never meant what was reported in a section of the Press. The top BJP leadership with RSS background resolved the controversy saying the ban on beef could be imposed only after a consensus is reached on the issue knowing it well that the minority communities, especially the Muslims and Christians, would oppose the move tooth and nail. Amit Shah ruled out the possibility. He didn't say a word in favour of Naqvi. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also was quoted as saying that whatever Naqvi said was his personal view and not the view of the Modi government. Some reports also said that Modi was also not happy with the Naqvi's statement. All this should expose both the RSS and the BJP. As far as the stand of the RSS and the BJP on Kammu & Kashmir, Pakistan, Kashmiri separatists, return of Kashmiri Pandits, Jammu issue and Ladakh issues is concerned, the agenda of alliance, which is contemptuously dismissed in the nationalist camp in the state as "agenda of betrayal" proves beyond any doubt that their attitude and the attitude of Kashmiri leadership is the same. The RSS and the BJP have rejected the suggestions that the state should be reorganized on a regional basis to end discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh and enable them to shape and mould their political future within India and under the Indian Constitution and Ladakh be given Union Territory status. As late as on May 28 and 29, Ram Madhav, BJP national general secretary, reiterated the stand of the RSS and the BJP at Hyderabad and Delhi and asserted that Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh have to remain a one political entity. At Hyderabad on May 28, Ram Madhav addressed a seminar on Jammu & Kashmir, agenda of alliance, Pakistan, China and so on. And on May 29, he told NewsX that there was no question of the state being "trifurcated", saying the present dispensation in Jammu & Kashmir was doing its best to bridge the gulf between regions and meet the needs of the people of all the three regions in an equitable manner. At both the places, Ram Madhav took a line that people of Jammu and Ladakh had all along opposed, saying they were fed up with the Kashmiri domination and hegemony. As for the return issue, the RSS and the BJP have abandoned the KPs' return plan for all practical purposes following the bitter opposition from the PDP, the NC and the Kashmiri separatists. They have even taken a U-turn on composite townships for the internally-displaced Kashmiri Pandits. Reports from Delhi and Srinagar suggest that the Modi government and the PDP-BJP coalition government in the state wanted the KPs to return to the localities from where they migrated in 1990. The KPs have rejected the proposal and again reiterated that they will not accept anything short of a separate homeland in the Valley. Similarly, the RSS and the BJP have rejected the demand of the refugees from West Pakistan for citizenship rights just because they Hindus and talked about their "sustenance and livelihood" as if they are beggars. The ultra secular RSS and BJP went back on their promise after separatists in Kashmir opposed their demand, saying they wanted to change the demography of the state and erode "Kashmiriyat". And, as far as the attitude of the RSS and the BJP towards Kashmiri separatists and Kashmir is concerned, suffice it to say that their attitude is highly soft towards them as compared to the Congress and other "secular" parties, their statements to the contrary for public consumption notwithstanding. One can refer to here many more instances to prove that the RSS is ultra secular and that the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to enforce the "secular agenda" of the Congress and similar other "secular" and "anti-majority" parties and formations. Rahul Gandhi needs to review his stand on the RSS and the BJP. He is not doing justice to himself and his Congress party and the RSS and the BJP by attacking Prime Minister Modi and his "suit boot wali sarkar". (Concluded) |
