Jammu, May 30: Security agencies today claimed to have arrested a Mechanical Engineer hailing from Tamil Naidu moving under suspicious circumstances very close to International Border in Marh of Kanachak on late Friday evening. According to sources, the youth was arrested by the army along International Border (IB) while he was on way to Pakistan. After preliminary questioning the Army later handed over the suspect to police for further questioning.
As per reports, 16 Punjab Regiment jawans during patrolling at Chakrali village situated along Internal Border at Kanachack arrested the person who was allegedly on way to Pakistan. "The ex-filtrator during preliminary questioning turned into a Mechanical Engineer having incriminating documents. Army later, handed over him to the Kanachack police for further legal action.
"The suspected has been identified as Zakir Ahmed ( 32) s/o Nazir Ahmed r/o Ambur , Vellore district in Tamil Naidu (TN), police sources said, adding, "though, police has yet to register a case in this connection but his questioning is on.
Sources said, during questioning and his frisking police recovered one paper cutting containing ISIS map, Phone Numbers of VIPs, Indian currency having face value of Rs 140.00 and ten ATM cards and counter slips of J&K Bank and Axis Bank respectively.
Police sources further said that during questioning he informed investigating agencies that he deserted his house some four- five years ago and lived in Punjab where he worked as announcer in some religious place. "He later boarded a bus and arrived in Jammu from where he went to the Kanachack border, sources said.
They said what prompts him to visit Jammu and then visit location in close vicinity of International Border (IB) is being investigated. " Though he projected himself as mentally unsound but it was the statement of his father that he was a brilliant person made the investigating agencies suspicious, a senior police officer said, adding the suspect is having a family his wife namely Rabiya of Kerala, a son namely Mohd Amir, Mother Ismah Zabeen and four brothers namely Nair Ahmed, Shaqir Ahmed, Tanvir Ahmed and Nanzur Ahmed".
The senior police officer further said that his questioning is in progress while the Vellore police too have been communicated to get more details about his past.
