Early Times Report Rajouri, June 11: PWD-Casual / Need based and ITI trained workers, today staged protest demonstration in favour of their demands and also presented a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner. According to press release, these workers have been demanding immediate release of their pending salaries for the last many months, creation of special head for paying their wages on regular basis, formulation of concrete policy for the regularization of their services (who have completed 7 or more years) of casual/need base workers and ITI trained workers. These workers were on indefinite strike for the last more than 23 days and on Friday last they suspended their strike for 7 days on the assurances of Ch Qamar Hussian and Vibodh Gupta, MLC that on Saturday they will take up their demands with Mufti Mohd Sayeed, Chief Minister during his visit to Rajouri. As the both leaders failed to take up the matter with Chief Minister of these workers in which the workers decided to organize a massive rally which was also supported by various other government employees' unions / casual-need base workers union of other departments. Vijay Kochar, ex-convener, Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), Shahbaz Khan, chairman Pir Panjal Regional Employees Front (PPREF) , Bashir Mirza ,president National Trade Union Front (NTUF) and Mohd Arif, president Health Department, Riaz Ahmed ,president Forest department , Shiraz Ahmed ,president Local Bodies Employee Union, Roomi Verma, president PHE ( all presidents of Need based and Casual Workers Unions) addressed the protesters and extended their support. Riaz has warned another massive protest rally with the help of other employees unions and Casual/need based workers unions if the government failed to mitigate their problems. |
