Srinagar, Aug 5: Traffic on the national highway, connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, was resumed after remaining suspended for security reasons, following a militant attack on the Border Security Force (BSF) convoy at Udhampur in Jammu region early this morning. Two BSF personnel were killed and about 10 others were wounded while a militant was killed and another was captured alive. Immediately after the attack, vehicles carrying Amarnath pilgrims from Jammu to Kashmir were stopped at several places between Samroli and Batote, where additional security forces had been deployed for their security. Traffic was suspended as a precautionary measure after militants attacked, official sources said. Later, a massive search operation was launched in the entire area to nab the militants involved in the attack. However, one of the militants was killed while another identified as Kasim Khan, a resident of Pakistan, was arrested alive. Vehicles, including those carrying passengers, were also stopped at Udhampur and other places to allow security forces to conduct thorough search operation.
