HM's list of 11 recruits "fake" as one of them tells Punjab police he is not militant | Engineer by profession, his pic has gone viral on social networking sites, showing him as HM terrorist | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 5: A Kashmir youth, who is working in a private company in Punjab as a software engineer and whose photograph has gone viral on social networking sites in the valley and also in Punjab, branding him as a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant, today walked to the Model Town police station at Jallandhar and told cops that he was not a militant. He is one among the 11 Valley youth whose photographs are taking rounds on social networking sites for the past few days. HM has projected all of them as its fresh recruits in Kashmir. Ahmad Shehroz Khan (26) of Kashmir has been working for the past few years as a software engineer in a company on GT Road which has its head office in London. While his photograph with the 11 HM recruits was already a topic of discussion in the valley, the group photo got viral on social networking sites in Punjab also after the recent terror attack on a police station at Dinanagar in Punjab. He came to know about his photograph with militants through a friend. Soon thereafter, he walked to the nearby Model Town police station at Jallandhar and narrated the whole episode, according to police sources. The Punjab police questioned him for about six hours and also brought the matter to the notice of senior police officers in Chandigarh but he was freed after the cops were satisfied that he was an innocent and not a militant. It may be mentioned here that HM commander Burhan had in the recent past put 11 photographs of Kashmiri youth on social networking sites, claiming that all of them were fresh recruits. This had alerted security agencies but with Shehroz denying any militant connections and saying that his photograph had been wrongly shown with the other 10 suspected militants, doubts have been raised over the authenticity of the Burhan's list of fresh recruits. ACP Balwinder Iqbal Singh Kahlo said someone had played a mischief with Shehroz. His father is a government engineer in J&K and sister, a doctor. His father said they had also spoken to the company management and it had given him a clean chit. |
