What is truth behind busting of hideout at Billawar? | Army says explosives seized, police say 'cock and bull story' | | Sumit Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 5: The busting of militant hideout in Billawar area of Kathua district in June this year stand exposed as police have washed their hands off, terming the incident as a cock and bull story. An army handout says, "In a joint operation, the Army's Rising Star Corps Intelligence Unit and J&K Police recovered a cache of locally made explosives, alongwith a number of other items which can be used in making Improvised Explosive Devices from the remote village of Jutha near Bilawar in Kathua District." Based on specific information, the troops of the Army's Intelligence Corps and J&K Police, undertook a joint search of the suspected location. The search of suspected area yielded recovery of locally made explosives, glass shrapnels, pencil batteries, gelatin sticks, primer cords and detonators. The recovered items could be used in preparing lethal Improvised Explosive Devices. Further investigations are on". The incident has also put the credibility of the army and police under scanner as one Kasim Din of village Jutha near Billawar, who was picked up for being a militant, was set free a couple of weeks later. The recovery was alleged to have been made from his residence. His release has left many questions un answered as if the person is not found involve in militancy related activities then from where the recoveries of explosives was made. Further, on what basis he was detained for couple of weeks?. SSP Kathua Neva Jain when contacted, said that it was better to contact the PRO army as the hand out was issued by army. Meanwhile, Lt Col Manish Mehta PRO (Defence), when contacted, said that it should be the responsibility of police to book the accused. The army officer also asked this reporter to send a query to his e mail in this connection.
