Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 6: The Jammu and Kashmir Citizen Advisory Forum (JKCAF) today expressed outrage over the separatists extending the shutdown in Kashmir.
In a statement here the JKCAF Chairman I C Jandial said that common Kashmiris have been suffering for the past 28-days as the continuous shutdown has hit them below their belt. “It has snatched their bread and butter, and of their families,” he lamented.
Jandial said these elements must understand that shutdown and continuous violence has put the common man in a tight spot and has brought miseries for him.
Rhetoric of separatists to implement the United Nations resolutions in Kashmir has been put at rest with the statement of UN spokesman, who has finally declared that the UN has no mandate over Kashmir and that the situation/ incidents in Kashmir are India's internal matter.
The UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric on behalf of UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon clarified the stand of the highest peace coordinating agency of the world that the UN has no role and the UNMOGIP mandate is to report the ceasefire violations between India and Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC). “The statement of the UN should serve as an eye opener for the separatists who are into the business of selling dreams to poor Kashmiris. They separatists should see the writing on the wall,” the JKCAF chairman said.
He urged the separatists to join the mainstream of Indian society and strive for bringing normalcy in Kashmir at the earliest.
He also asked the Kashmir Civil Society and Kashmir Bar Association to come forward to restore peace in the Valley and not to allow situation to deteriorate further. “They have a major role to play in present crisis. The civil society in fact should educate the misguided youth not to tread on this dangerous path which has already consumed lakhs of lives since the onset of militancy in Kashmir in 1990. Parents should keep a vigil on the activities of their wards and should stop them from joining the miscreants,” Jandial said.
He said, “Those who are playing into the hands of Pakistan should bear in mind that Pakistan has already waged four wars against India since partition but could not even get an inch of land. Instead it got exposed in international fora.”
The JKCAF Chairman said that with the premature winding of Amarnath Yatra has hit the local people surviving on this Yatra especially the tent wallas and pony wallas as their families were mostly dependent on these earnings for a longer period of the year. Even otherwise lakhs of rupees are injected in the economy of JK where a large section of locals are benefitted due to this Yatra.
Jandial also appealed to all section of society to maintain communal harmony in the state and not to get carried away by rumours or misinformation. “The society at this critical juncture should not give any credence to such statements which are coming from vested interests as they are hell bent upon burning the state and watch it like king Nero of France when Rome was burning,” he added.
