The division is fast creeping in the civil society of the Kashmir over the logic of extending hartal and violent protests which already have claimed about 50 lives. A section of the intelligentsia and the members of the civil society is of the view while such methods have not achieved any thing in the past and this should end before the visit of the all-party delegation to the Kashmir.
“We have already lost 50 lives. Six-year back more thatn 100 people were consumed by the senseless violence. Has it achieved any thing? Has the stand of the Government of India changed even a bit ? It’s time to introspect and start asking why we were setting our home on fire at the behest of external forces,” said an influential member of the Kashmir civil society, wishing not to be named.
Many people hold the view that while this vicious cycle of violence is only helping some forces and also indeed the Pakistan but the common-man has not achieved anything while he is being brainwashed and this needs to the countered.
“India is now de-facto super power. Can we expect that such a strong nation will budge before few such actor and change its stated position. Even Kurds have not achieved anything from much weak Iraq . We are being delued and it’s time to shake off for some hard reality,” said another member.
Many people also said that such growing cycle of violence is also contributing to hardening of position in many parts of the country towards Kashmiri people and which many belive is worrisome development.
“Our children are studying there and there lives and study are at the cost. We have to understand their position and also there is strong possibility that even tourists may stop coming and government choking hawala money. Then what will be future of our people and it’s a nightmare scenario which we are only to be blamed if it comes true, though it seems a possible scenario,” said another civil society member
