Torture, murder of Jammu youths outside states goes un-addressed: Harsh
2/14/2018 10:21:49 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 14: Accusing the State government of adopting two different yardsticks in responding to the victimization of youth in outside states who hailed from Jammu Pradesh and Kashmir valley respectively, Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and Former Minister today lambasted the BJP Ministers and MLAs for their failure to protect the lives and liberties of Dogra youth working outside state.
Pointing towards the hostile disregard of Jammu youth, Harsh Dev Singh said that there was a continuous ruckus in the State Assembly over the manhandling and assault on the two students hailing from Kashmir by a mob in Haryana a couple of days ago.
He said that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had personally taken up the matter with her Haryana counterpart ML Khattar which was followed by the interaction between DGP Jammu and DGP Haryana. The former even confirmed that a case had been registered and a SIT had been set up under the IGP Haryana to probe the incident, Harsh added. While hailing the prompt response from the State government in addressing the victimization of the said students in Haryana, Singh took a serious note of the prejudiced and ignorant behaviour of the dispensation in initiating a similar probe into the cases pertaining to the youth of Jammu province who were tortured, murdered or went missing in other states.
Referring to a blood- curdling incident of double murder of a father and a son in Punjab during November last year, Harsh Dev Singh divulged that Romesh Chander son of Gangu Ram and Jeet Kumar son of Ramesh Chander both residents of village Kirmoo, Ramnagar in district Udhampur who went to Punjab to earn a livelihood were brutally murdered in mysterious circumstances. Shockingly, the bodies of the slain father and son were found in Mukerian and Jalandhar respectively on 24 Nov, 2017 which had raised eyebrows over their murder under a deep rooted conspiracy, Harsh said. He regretted that despite the FIR registered at Mukerian, no action in this regard had been taken by the J&K police or the State government so far.
Taking a dig at the BJP, he said while the Saffron leaders showed their concern in the Assembly over the manhandling of Kashmiri students in Haryana by a mob, they criminally ignored the double murder incident and failed to rake up the issue on the floor of the house. Moreover, neither the State government nor the police administration took the cognizance of the mishap which had rocked the entire Jammu region and Udhampur district in particular.
Likewise, one Vijay Singh son of Jagan Singh of village Tagan of Ramnagar was found dead in mysterious circumstances in Haryana sometime ago with no clue of his death so far, Harsh rued. He further revealed that one Naresh Kumar son of Gian Chand of Amara in Tehsil Majalta who went missing a few months back and was reportedly seen on social media in January 2018 to have been held a hostage somewhere in Punjab.
