Security forces foil infiltration bid by Pakistan-backed terrorists along LoC in Poonch
2/15/2018 10:26:51 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 15: The security forces on Thursday foiled an infiltration bid by the Pakistani-backed terrorists on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
According to Agencies, a highly vigilant security personnel noticed suspicious movements in Balakote area of the LoC early this morning and retaliated in equal measures.
"Troops fired and the group of intruding terrorists was forced to withdraw back into the Pakistani side. A search operation is now going on in the area," the defence sources said.
The Pakistani Army had violated ceasefire in Nowshera sector of the LoC in Rajouri district on Wednesday too.
"At around 7 pm, using small arms, automatics and mortars they violated ceasefire. But our positions retaliated effectively and strongly," the sources added.
However, no casualty or damage was reported on the Indian side.
In a related development, the Army today warned that over 300 Pakistan-trained terrorists are ready to enter India at an opportune time.
The warning came from Lt Gen Devraj Anbu who said that more than 300 militants are waiting across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan to infiltrate into India.
Devraj Anbu added that the Pakistan Army had played a key role in planning terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
The warning came in the wake of reports that the recent attacks at an Army camp at Sunjuwan in Jammu and a CRPF camp at Karan Nagar in Srinagar were synchronised by Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Toiba,
The intelligence sources alleged that the JeM and LeT had synchronised the two attacks to hit security forces simultaneously in the two regions.
''The Jammu mission was assigned to Jaish, while the LeT was chosen to execute the Srinagar strike,'' a senior official of the J&K Police was quoted as saying by media reports.
The near-simultaneous strikes in Jammu and Kashmir regions were executed to possibly divide the attention of the security agencies and counter-forces," he added.
All the five terrorists involved in the two strikes - 3 in Jammu and 2 in Srinagar - were Pakistani nationals and killed in the ensuing operation by the India Army.
