Nowshera people observes peaceful bandh on second day

Rajouri, Feb 17: People of Nowshera sub division, who have been demanding district status with headquarters at Nowshera, held peaceful protest demonstration including sit in dharna at the office of Tehsildar on the second consecutive day of their indefinite strike today.
People had started indefinite strike on Friday under the banner of Beopar Mandal (business Association) headed by Subhash Kapoor and is being supported by various unions including transport union and Bar Association headed by Sardar Rattan Singh.
People today took out processions at Chowki Handan and at other places in favour of their demand while the main protest procession was taken out at Nowshera tehsil HQs where hundreds of people joined the protest raising slogans against those who attempting to divide the people and in favour of their demand.
Ravinder Raina, BJP MLA from Nowshera also joined the people and extended his support to the ongoing struggle by the people.
"Ravinder Raina informed that the government has sought the detailed information about the ongoing struggle for district status which was sent by the DDC" said Subhash Kapoor.
Prominent leaders leading the protest demonstrations and indefinite strike said that this time government can't deceive the people of Nowshera like in the past and we have prepared ourselves to face 'lathis', bullets for our genuine demand.
"Our strike is peaceful and will continue till our demand was not met. The government should not take our peaceful way of protest as our weakness. Any deliberate attempt by the government to adopt delay and watch policy will strongly be foiled by the people of Nowshera" said Subhash Kapoor.
He added being a holiday tomorrow the people will sit on dharna at bus stand after passing through various locality and bazaars by raising slogans in favour of their demand.
