Early Times Report
srinagar, Feb 17: Coalition partners in Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party and Bharatiya Janata Party are trying their best to induct their own man as the Managing Director of the Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Company (JKPCC) limited, sources told Early Times.
They said since the day government attached the former MD on the corruption charges, affairs of the government owned company are being looked after by the in charge MD, who is all set to attain superannuation.
An insider revealed that an influential PDP Minister is lobbying hard to get his own relative posted as Managing Director of the JKPCC. "The Minister is lobbying hard to see that his relative gets the top post and others are shown the thumb," he added.
On the other hand a few BJP leaders want their own man to get the plum posting ad they too are trying to have someone at the top position in the company. "The PDP Minister, who is considered to be an influential man, has almost convinced his party top brass to get his relative placed at the top post and he has even assured him that he would be placed," sources said.
It may be recalled that former JKPCC Managing Director was ousted after a purported audio clip about his conversation with his colleague went viral. After the audio clip went viral the government attached the MD and handed over the case to the Crime Branch for further investigations. "There were speculations that a few politicians are also trying hard to get the former MD reinstated but the powerful PDP Minister has used his influence to ensure that they (BJP leaders) don't succeed their endeavor," said an insider.
He said, "The PDP Minister is even using his connections in New Delhi to keep the state BJP leaders away and to have his own man at the top post. The Minister has told his friends in New Delhi that his man is the best bet for the post and they should not pay any heed towards the recommendations being put forward by their party leaders."
Sources said that a few PDP leaders are opposing their own Minister and want party high command to put some "honest and upright" man at the top position as JKPCC is one of the most prestigious government owned company and is a profit making venture. "The new JKPCC MD should be appointed on the basis of merit and not on the basis of political influence," they added.
