Heritage school operates without permission; other NoCs
Director Education gives ultimatum to school admin

JAMMU, Feb 17: In order to ascertain the fulfillment of the requisite norms by the private educational institutions running in Jammu division a special drive has been initiated by the Education Department. Director School Education Jammu, S. Ravinder Singh along with Joint Director School Education Jammu, S. Charandeep Singh, Additional DC Jammu Arun Manhas, CEO Jammu J K Sudan and SDM South Kulbushan Khajuria inspected Heritage School at Sainik Colony here.
As per an official handout the team noticed that the school is functioning without grant of state permission. It was also observed that the school did not have the requisite disaster management plan and was also found functioning without seeking 'No objection certificates' from fire services department, R&B department and Jammu development authority.
Taking cognizance of this serious lapse, Director School Education issued on spot direction to the school management to furnish the requisite documents within a few days failing which necessary action under rules shall be initiated against the school. It is pertinent to mention here that number of deputations of parents have met the Director School Education Jammu and apprised him of monopoly of certain private schools charging exorbitant fees, sale of uniforms, books besides apprising him of cases of corporal punishment in certain private schools.
In this regard, Director School Education has already constituted various teams headed by zonal education officers under the overall control of Chief Education Officer Jammu for inspection of private schools falling within their respective jurisdiction. Schools inspected by such teams include Dashmesh Public School Digiana, Shiksha Niketan High School Gandhi Nagar, Guru Harkrishan Public School Nanak Nagar, Green Field Public School Gandhi Nagar, Arjun Public School R.S Pura, Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School R.S Pura, Ajanta High School Sai, Lord Krishna Public School Sohajana, Bharat Public School Gadi Garh, Divya HSS Lower Gadi Garh, National Academy Jandrah and Shining Star Jhajjar Kotli.
Management of these schools has been instructed to maintain the quality of the education and ensure that interest of the student community is looked after properly. They were instructed to keep the requisite document ready for inspection by the concerned team. The drive would continue till the beginning of new academic session the official handout added.
