Two cops held with 100 gram heroin

Jammu, Mar 14: In continuation to the drive against drugs launched by SSP Jammu, Vivek Gupta, today a major success was achieved by Gangyal police when two notorious drug peddlers (cops) were apprehended and seized 100 grams heroin (chitta) from their possession.
Police spokesman said that today a routine naka was established at opposite city farm Gangyal NHW when two pedestrians were coming from Narwal towards Kunjwani were asked to stop but they had tried to flee from the spot, were overpowered by the alert cops.
"On questioning they disclosed their name as Ishfaq Ahmed of Ward No-4 Rajouri, posted as follower in District Police Rajouri, during his personnel search heroine (Chitta) like substance weighing 55 gm recovered from his possession and Selection grade constable Nissar Ahmed of Balakot posted in District Police Reasi (PSO of DFO Reasi), during his personnel search heroin (Chitta) like substance weighing 45 gram recovered from his possession. On further questioning they disclosed that they had brought the consignment from Srinagar and selling drugs among the youth and ruining the society in and around Jammu city.
In this regard a case under FIR No 23/2018 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Gangyal police station.
More recoveries are expected as there is every possibility of involvement of more persons. The arrest was made by SI Nayat Ali, SHO Gangyal under the close supervision of SDPO City South Jammu Mohammed Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
