Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 24: In-charge police post Panjthirthi has allegedly thrashed and harassed a local youth while his Personal Security Officer (PSO) purportedly demanded and accepted Rs 4000 for setting him free.
Rohit Mehra-resident of Karan Nagar said that today in the evening he was riding on a scooty and going to purchase medicines for his father when he was stopped at a Naka at Dothli Bazaar.
"After being asked for showing his documents, I showed all the documents of my scooty including driving license which was broken", said Mehra adding that the in-charge police post Panjthirthi after seeing the broken driving license got infuriated and started saying that the driving license is fake.
He further said that he was taken police post where he was harassed and also beaten up with wooden stick. Later, brother of Mehra reached the police post and requested the in-charge police post for releasing his brother.
He further said that the in-charge police forced him to write an apology letter for not arguing a police officer and asked his PSO to take his brother to munshi.
"The PSO of the in-charge police post asked his brother to give Rs 4000 otherwise his brother would be fabricated in a fake FIR", said Mehra adding that in fear of FIR his brother gave Rs 4000 to the POSO and Rs 200 to munshi of the police post.
After giving the bribe they released him and warned to not disclose the matter with anyone otherwise he has to face consequences, said Mehra. He further maintained that later he reported the matter to the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA East) of their constituency who talked to the Station House Officer (SHO) Pacca Danga to take action against the in-charge police post. Mehra further told that he had given written complaint to SHO Pacca Danga in this regard. However, when last reports came in no FIR was registered in this regard.
