KUPWARA, Mar 24: There are hundreds of private schools throughout Kashmir valley, but one fails to understand that why private schools in Handwara and its adjacent areas were targetted.
The govt decision has affected 10- 20 thousand students have suffered badly from past one week, said representative of private schools.
According to sources that, there are at least twenty five private schools which have been locked down in Handwara and its adjacent areas forcing nearly ten thousand school children to stay back at home on Saturday. The closure of schools has come as a reaction by the school managements to the government directive for avoiding the hiring passenger vehicles for ferrying the students.
A senior representative of Private School's Association Handwara Shahbaz Ahamd while addressing media at Dak Bungalow Handwara accused authorities of jeopardizing the carrier of students.
He said there are hundreds of renowned schools in Kashmir valley, but one fails to understand that why gauge has been placed on dozens of schools in Handwara and its adjacent areas. Otherwise we think the directives were unwarranted and irrational.
There are around twenty five schools in Handwara and its adjacent areas among which almost 10- 20 thousand students have suffered badly from past one week.
Though there is a transport facility to some schools, and it becomes a responsibility of the government and concerned department to find an alternative to this issue, adding if they failed in doing so, we will register a protest programme against the government.
"We met Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, concerned MLA's and other officers and gave a representation before them, we requested the authorities to give us a brewing space till some arrangements are made, said Shahbaz Ahmad.
We also put forth our suggestions before DC Kupwara that SRTC buses should be given to them which are already in a deficit mode and we ensure them they will be given a good profits, however the concerned DC have assured that he will take up this issue with the concerned authorities.
However sources have said that, there are many private schools in other districts of north Kashmir district which don't have transport facilities and in the recent past, traffic department had seized some private vans and other vehicles.
