KATRA, Mar 24: A delegation of Duggar Kranti Sena along with the various Auto Rickshaw drivers operating in Katra called on SDM Katra to apprise her of the problems faced by Auto Rickshaw drivers who are working under the tremendous pressure and serious competition. The hoteliers in Katra have engaged private vehicles for transporting pilgrims from their hotels to Ban Ganga and vice versa and due to the said conduct of the said hoteliers Auto rickshaw drivers are finding it difficult to earn so as to make their both ends meet. Advocate Vilakshan Singh (Chairman DKS) apprised the SDM that vehicles being plied by hoteliers are without any permit and without any legal sanction. He said the Auto Rickshaw drivers have invested huge amounts, much beyond their capability to purchase auto rickshaw and obtain permits there of. But due to the above said illegal conduct of the hoteliers the auto rickshaw drivers are finding it hard to get passengers and due to paucity of passengers the auto rickshaw drivers mostly remain free and are unable to earn. They requested the SDM to take stern action against the illegal activities of the hoteliers of Katra whereby they are plying vehicles for transportation of passengers without any permit or illegal sanction. The SDM Katra gave them the patient hearing and assured the delegation that stern action under law shall be taken against the vehicles illegally plied in Katra in accordance with law. |
