Around 100 villagers including VWSC members, ASHA workers, anganwadi workers, prominent villagers, opinion leaders, women, PHE officials and others participated in each Gram Sabha. Participants were sensitized on Water Conservation, rain water harvesting & water security plans. They were also briefed to adopt hygienic practices including washing hands with soaps, safe storage and handling of drinking water at household level to keep it free from bacterias. Water testing through field testing kits was also demonstrated to the participants and they were asked to get their water tested to ensure the quality of water as unsafe water leads to many water borne diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, gastroenteritis etc. and many people lost their lives due to water borne diseases. Water testing should be done at the source of supply of water as well as at household level as the water can be contaminated in between due to leakages of pipes or some other factors. |
