3 students from Samba qualify UPSC CDS exam

SAMBA, Mar 29: In keeping with Indian Army's tradition of garnering goodwill and developing bonhomie with the locals, Samba Super 40 project under the aegis of Gurj Division was initiated to provide quality training to young NDA/ CDS aspirants of Samba area as per UPSC curriculum.
The project involved identification, screening & selection of potential candidates, for which extensive interactions were done by Army officers of Samba Brigade at Samba, Vijaypur and Kathua schools & colleges.
Three screening tests were organized at Army Public School, Samba and 40 Students were shortlisted for NDA and CDS. A state of the art classroom with infrastructure for e-learning, internet facility and a well-stocked library comprising of newspapers, magazines and books on current affairs, general knowledge and competition related periodicals was setup for reference of the selected aspirants.
Apart from the regular classes conducted daily by a competent team of teachers, the aspirants were also provided with professional coaching by Lt Col Muruganathan (Retd), Director, Star Officers Study Circle, Chennai and by experts from Pune through Aseem Foundation (a Pune based NGO) via e-learning classes. Out of the 30 students trained, 03 (2 x Boys and 1 x Girl) have cleared the written exam. They will now be coached further for SSB.
This initiative has not only helped the youth to prepare themselves for the competition and to make their dreams of joining the Armed Forces come true but has also strengthen the bonds between Army and the people of Samba.
