Scrap Article 370 to end alienation of valley: PK
3/29/2018 10:02:15 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 29: Expressing its deep concern over the lackadaisical approach of Government of India in scrapping Article 370, the Panun Kashmir (PK) urged Delhi to remove the Article which is the only hurdle in brining valley into the mainstream.
Addressing a meeting here today, the PK, president Vijay Bhat said that there can be no better solution to end the alienation of valley people from rest of India than to scrap the Article 370.
Speaking on the occasion, PK, convener Ravinder Jalali expressed surprise over the statement given by the Union Minister in the Lok Sabha that currently there is no proposal to scrap article 370 from the constitution. He further said that the Article 370 in the only barrier between the people of J& K and the rest of India and has developed a sense of alienation and separatism among the people of valley. Moreover, it is unethical and illogical to deprive the people of rest of India to have their presence in J&K whereas the people of J&K can have presence all over India and can have all types of activities across the rest of India freely. It seems to be like one way traffic going on which is not going to work.
It is often not realized that the causes of Kashmir problem is Article 370 which has played no less a part in preventing J&K from becoming an integral part of the Indian Union. Not many people are aware as how and why this Article was formulated and included in the Indian Constitution despite grave misgivings of Sardar Patel and indeed a large number of the members of Congress Working Committee and Constituent Assembly, he said.
