BJP betrayed legacy of Dr Shyama Prasad: Harsh
3/29/2018 10:02:25 PM
Early Times Report
Ramnagar, Mar 29: Referring to the dilution of its stand over abrogation of Art 370 by BJP, Harsh Dev Singh described it as an opportunist move and questioned the RSS as to whether it would still continue to give political support to the saffron party.
He said that not only its changed stance over Art 370 but the BJP partnered govt in J&K had engaged five top lawyers of the country to defend Art 35A in the Supreme Court. He expressed dismay that BJP had so openly disowned the principles for which Dr. Mukherjee stood all his life and have jettisoned his ideology throwing all their solemn election time pledges of promoting his agenda to the winds after their ascendance to power in their desperation to keep their opportunist alliance with PDP intact. He was addressing huge public gatherings in Panj-Grain and Manial villages of Ramnagar constituency.
Rebuking the BJP leaders for betraying the legacy of Dr. Mukherjee, Harsh Dev Singh said that they have done the greatest dis-service to the legendary leader by drawing political capital out of his sacrifice and dis-regarding his slogans after their ascendance to power. He said that the BJP leaders used the name of Dr. Mukherjee and his ideology for garnering votes in the elections but once in power abandoned his ideology and principles in the most contemptuous manner.
He said that BJP had not only endorsed the separate constitution of J&K but had most contemptuously discarded the demand for Abrogation of Article 370 which had been its most coveted demand during the last seven decades. He further said that BJP Ministers in J&K had been using two flags in their offices, in various official functions and on their vehicles with some of them reportedly visiting the statute site of Dr. Mukherjee with two flags flying atop their vehicles.
He said that with two flags still flying on Civil Secretariat building, no efforts had been made by any of the BJP Ministers or MLAs after forming govt. in the state and centre to get the Provision of separate Flag removed from the State Constitution.
Manju Singh, General Secretary NPP while making a particular mention of some of the other promises made by the BJP during Elections as part of its core philosophy, pointed out that it had made categorical statement for grant of state subjects to west Pak refugees with "right to vote in the Assembly and local bodies," 'right to immovable property', 'right to higher and technical education' and 'right to state govt. Jobs'.
She said that likewise the reservation of 5 seats for PoJK Refugees, 3 seats for Kashmir migrants and 33% reservations for women in Legislative Assembly and Council as assured in the vision document of BJP have been consigned to the dustbin. Likewise the commitments made in vision document pertaining to "re-introduction of scheme for tax holidays for 10 years for industrial units in J&K and according "property rights to children of daughters of state married outside the state with non-state subject," "issuance of Dogra certificate to Dogra youth" "provision of 6% vertical reservation to Ex-Serviceman and Martyr's families" have all fallen flat and torn to tatters with BJP merely content with being a junior partner in the PDP led govt, the NPP leader lamented.
