| Cleanliness drive taken up by NSS | | |  Early Times Report
Udhampur, Mar 30: The NSS wing of Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu participated in the cleanliness drive at Udhampur Campus following the theme Swachh and Swasth Bharat.
The first NSS activity of Udhampur Campus was inaugurated by Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Rector, Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu. In her address, she lauded the efforts of NSS Volunteers and Programme Officers for their participation and contribution in spreading awareness among student community about the importance of clean surroundings and environment. She motivated the volunteers to work with full dedication for a noble cause and advised them to channelize their energies in positive direction.
Prof. Parmeshwari Sharma, from Department of Hindi, University of Jammu, the guest of honour, interacted with the NSS volunteers and shared her views on the role and responsibilities of youth in nation building.
She also gave suggestions for the overall growth and development of the campus. Around 50 volunteers from both the departments of Commerce and Economics got into action and cleared plastic and other solid waste littered in and around the campus. NSS volunteers of the campus cleaned the campus play ground and surroundings and took a pledge to keep the environment neat and clean. The volunteers took keen interest and worked with full dedication and cleaned the entire campus. The volunteers assured that they will keep their campus clean and would be undertaking such activities on regular basis. Dr. Shilpa Gupta, NSS campus Coordinator, briefed the NSS volunteers about the mission and objectives of NSS for social welfare and nation building. Other NSS programme coordinators including Dr. Neetu Kumari, Taruna Dubey, Mamta Sharma, Pradeep Kumar, Jhanvi Khanna, Vinod Kumar, Dr. Kamani Dutta, Dr. Deepti Abrol and Ritika Sambyal coordinated the cleanliness drive at campus. |
